Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven (Clapton Chronicles: The Best of Eric Clapton 1981-1999)
Well I left Oklahoma
Drivin in a Pontiac
Just about to lose my mind
I was goin to Arizona
Maybe on to California
People all livin so fine
My momma called me crazy
My baby said I'm lazy
Gonna show em all this time
Cause you know I ain't no foolin
I don't need no more damn school
Wanna just walk the line
Livin on Tulsa time
Livin on Tulsa time
Gonna set my watch back to it
Cause you know me, I've been thru it
Livin on Tulsa time
So there I was in Hollywood
Thinkin I was doin good
Talkin on the telephone line
They don't want me in the movies
Ain't nobody sing my song
Momma says my baby's doin fine
So then I started thinkin
And I got to weaken
I really had a flash this time
I had no business leavin
Ain't nobody would be grievin
Seen I'm on Tulsa time
Livin on Tulsa time
Livin on Tulsa time
Gonna set my watch back to it
Cause you know me, I've been thru it
Livin on Tulsa time

Great post, and thank you for the otis rush recommendation. I've listened to a lot of blues, but there are always some gems to uncover, and that was one. But, to be honest, I've never listened to anyone, albeit otis rush, albert king, robert johnson, or any other of the like, that has captured the mood of the blues as vividly as Peter Green.

Peter Green is of such unparalleled genius and feel that everyone associated with this song does a fabulous--as near perfect as humanly possible--job with their respective instruments/roles as well.

This track has got to give the lie to anyone who says that British blues guitarists can't play real honest-to-god blues-- or at least, Greeny could Listen to that tone and that he can play soft and loud, dripping soul from every pore. I hate to compare, but listen to an Otis Rush track like "You Know My Love" after this one (I'm picking a Chi. blues cut that sounds a lot like Greeny). They're equal. And PG's not copying, either. As John Lee used to say, "It's IN him And it GOT to come out."

As far as great blues pieces go, this one never fails to take me out at the knees. Peter Green was truly something special.
